I am really really unimpressed.

Let's start by saying that, this is bullshit. What kind of a shit release is this. Where's the iPhone 5?! Where's the redesign, where's that magical feeling?!


Alright, maybe I'm being a little harsh. If you think about it, it's not like other people don't do things like this all the time. Look at the Motorola Droid series, look at the Optimus series. Or the Xperia Arc vs Xperia Arc S. They are all essential the same product design with a few internal changes. Yet no one's slamming on them. For a good reason too.




Come on, if you're going to release ONE phone every year, you can't expect your consumers to be stuck with the same design as the previous one, right?

Let's say you get the 2 year contract plan, and after it's up you decide to get the iPhone 4S, you'll be stuck with that same look for 4 years. That's donkey years in the electronics world. People want a new look. Something that Apple clearly failed to deliver this time round.

Okay, I know that you'll be telling me that the 1st gen to the 3rd gen looked the same aesthetically, however, each revision brought huge updates to the hardware and software. They were the bleeding edge of technology.

However, when you look at the current state of technology, where all the high-end android phones already have a dual-core 1GHz processor (as the bare minimum), with the ridiculous 1.5GHz as the king. Adding a dual-core chip from your iPad 2 just isn't going to cut it.

Not only that, the major updates is, the Camera, the CPU and the Siri software. Honestly, the only thing that is fascinates me is the camera.

Camera: They increase the resolution from 5MP to 8MP. Added extra lens for sharpness. Used backlit technology for the sensor. Increased aperture size. Allowed for 1080p HD video recording.
(All this simply translates to a huge improvement in image performance. In terms of low light performance, colour, and speed.)

Definitely the coolest hardware in iPhone 4S

Siri: It's really cool. It seems to work well. Still, this is one of the greatest things that people will never use. It's plain stupid to be talking to your phone. At least at the moment. Voice recognition is still way too awkward for humans.

Yes, I know that this isn't the iPhone 5. But doesn't this strike you as strange? Why would you want to invest in a product that is going to get obsoleted by their own company? It all feels like a huge scam to me. The fact that they drop hints that the iPhone 5 was going to be launched, yet did a ninja backstab with ONLY the iPhone 4S.

From a marketing standpoint though, everything makes sense. Why will you want to drop a product design that has been so wildly successful? It's not like people stopped liking the iPhone, it is a great opportunity to exploit their stupidity for profit.

I have a lot more to say but this is getting pointless. I only have one piece of advice to offer all of you.
