FFT: You're dead every time you sleep
Monday, April 01, 2013

Writing about this because I'm right about to fall asleep, and I suddenly remember something that I read a couple while back ago, or maybe it was a video, anyway it was talking about how sleeping is equivalent to dying.

I'm sure there will be a butt ton of argument against it, so for the sake of understanding my point, let's just think about it only based on your experiences and not on science.

When you sleep, you essentially lose consciousness, you have no control over your body. Even if someone were to defecate on your face, you won't be able to do anything about it. In this aspect, you're no different from a corpse. Of course, the pungent smell would wake you up and allow you to tear that bastard a new hole, something that a corpse couldn't do. (and would be really terrifying if it could)

We're done with the physical, now for the mind. When you sleep you don't remember the time when you're sleeping. (can you imagine being able to hear yourself snore, and remember it?*)  So that's 5 hours, or maybe 15 hours of time where you are not aware of your surroundings. (the time varies, from little to you-should-just-die-in-your-sleep)
*video cameras are not counted, it ruins the point

As such, from your own point of view, you're essentially dead during the time you're asleep.

When you think about it this way, it makes you wanna treasure the time you're awake, for you never really know if you're going to wake up again after you close your eyes.

Chapter 2 - Lia
Monday, October 31, 2011

This is the chapter 2 of my short novel. If you haven't read chapter 1 yet, please go and read it first. This chapter is mainly about the girl, Lia. I think that this will probably end with chapter 3. So.. well, enjoy this and look forward to the next one!

I present you, my heart.

"Hi, we meet again, Leo."

In front of Leo stood a girl with model-like features, sleek, tall and slender. An expressionless angel that instinctively felt warm to his heart.

"I'm sorry, have we met?"

Lia's cheeks twitched a little as she held back her emotions. "It's fine", she told herself, after all, it's not the first time that his has ever happened, and it certainly won't be the last. Still, it doesn't matter how used she is to this situation, pain is still pain. Even though she told herself that it's alright, the deepest region of her heart and soul secretly wished that after such a dramatic event, Leo would miraculously be able to remember her. Seems like reality isn't as convenient as she would have hoped, seeing how Leo crushed her weary heart over and over again.

Chapter 1 - Sleep [Poem]

Well, since chapter 2 is... kind of pretty far away from finishing. I thought I'll entertain anyone who liked the story so far.

The young man sleeps with a dreadful mind
More than the pain of humanity combined
His lonely protector treads the night
With nothing more than a lone white light
His haunted memories screamed at him
Leave this world and come with me!
Alas, his protector fought his fright
Without the shining armor of prince or knight
Bravery kills and death returns
The lone protector falls back down to earth
Rotting flesh and a damaged soul
Darkness rejoice with the life they stole
Young man who knew no darkness or pain
Fell to his knees with his face blood stained
Tears fell as he kissed thee lone knight
Thus rekindled life with morning light

Well, it's been years since I've attempted a poem. So uh. Chill with the critique, bro.

In case you haven't read the story yet, here's the link to it.

Chapter 1 - Sleep
Monday, October 17, 2011

I had this idea last night right before I went to bed. It's been years since I've written a story like this. I still don't know what kind of title to give this story. But this is the chapter 1. Hopefully there'll be more in the future. I also hope that you'll like it, I don't mind critique as long as it's constructive. It took me quite a few hours to get this out. Warning, this is a little sadistic. So well, without further ado, enjoy.

There was nothing he looked forward to in life. Leo isn't very popular in his school, being a quiet guy, he spends most of his time alone in school, no one knows who he is, no one remembers who he is. At the end of the day, he found himself walking home alone, feeling the loneliness creep into him.

However, Leo's not going to let himself feel depressed today, for it is his 18th birthday, the first step into adulthood. As negative as he may be, he secretly looks forward to the small celebration his family holds for him every year.

As he take the first step into his house, "Happy birthday Leo!" cheered both his parents. Those words sparked a small fire in his heart, lighting up a smile on his face. Being the lone child of the family, his parents try their best to be around his side as much as possible. Even so, the harsh economy forced both his parents to work, leaving him to fend for himself most of the time.

Knowing that, Leo felt immensely loved when both his parents took leave to celebrate his birthday.

Unfortunately, his happiness is short lived.
BAM! Leo heard a loud sound and lost all consciousness.
