The Great Gatsby

Watched this today. It is alright I suppose.

It's based on a 1925 Novel, that I haven't read yet. And after watching this movie I'm probably not going to read it, ever. Don't get me wrong this isn't a bad movie, but it's the type of literature that you would only appreciate if you slow down your pace of life to truly understand the intentions of the author.

That said, I liked the story. I think that it is rather boring as a movie, but as a story, I liked it.

It's about the world seen in first person, by a guy who's always the third person. Things will always happen around him, but not to him. He uttered this phrase a couple of times, a phrase that has really struck a chord in me.

"I'm within, and without."

I liked the movie because it somehow feels like the way I think. I can't really put it into words properly, but if I had to write a story like that, I would probably write it very similar to how the movie presented itself.

So yeah, I think it's kinda worth a watch. Just know that it really isn't for everyone.

Went out to skate with S after that. Went a round around Pasir Ris park, and I swear it is crowded as hell. I mean, why would anyone want to hang out at Pasir Ris park on a public holiday?! Well, not to say that I didn't use to go there when I was a kid, but still, it amuses me to see so many cyclists around.

It was a rather nice day out, oh well, but then I'm really kind of losing the mood to write over here.
*Abrupt end.

Happy New Year 2013!
Wednesday, January 02, 2013

"Everyday is a new day
Just like yesterday
But it'll be a better day"
Probably...
- Lord of Geeks

Well, this New Year isn't particularly exciting nor anything in particular. Of course, that's due to the activities we were doing. But then again, calm and easy is the way I like it.

I don't know how the hell but I somehow managed to miss the timing to post on the 1st of January. Which adds to the list of "bad ways to start a new year". Anyway, I have done this for quite awhile now; writing resolutions and not particularly following them.

Still, my resolution for this year shall be the same as last year.

STOP WASTING TIME.

I can't stress this hard enough. It's not like I've not been doing work of any sort. It's not like I'm just rotting my days away. I study very hard, just not in the right areas.

Still, I've read that having vague resolutions like this doesn't help me in following through, so for the sake of it. And to test it out, I shall try to write some very specific resolutions.

*inserts random joke
A: What is your resolution for 2013!
B: 1920 by 1080.

Though the word "resolution" doesn't really make a lot of sense to me, the only thing that I can think of is my monitor resolution. So instead of resolutions, it'll be promises to myself. At least I will feel a tad depressed breaking my own promises. Let's hope this'll work.

  1. Finish my final year project in a timely fashion. Specifically before the end of January.
  2. Score As for all my modules. (even though it's a little too late but it's better than nothing)
  3. Exercise more and get in shape.
  4. Have regular sleeping habits. (Sleep by 12AM)
  5. Find a way to create a >50mbps wireless link at home.
  6. Set up a database server for me to play around with.
  7. Set up Virtual Application Streaming
  8. Set up PXE Boot Server
  9. Set up proper redundant backups with NAS. (rsync)
  10. Eat as healthily as possible (fruits everyday)

That's all the things I could think off the top of my head. And I made it very specific. Hopefully I would be able to accomplish all of them.

If you're wondering why there are no pictures, that's because it was drizzling half the time. It was really dark and we were tired as hell. Crashed at a friend's place for awhile before heading home to rest. Had my friends buy breakfast over for me in the morning. I swear, that is probably the best way to start a day and a year.

So all in all, I suppose 2013 wasn't that bad of a start. But judging from this, it's probably gonna be a bumpy ride and I simply have to see the good in all situations I'm in.

Happy New Year 2013 everyone!

Daily Photo #117 - Pasir ris park
Wednesday, August 08, 2012

Went to Pasir ris park for a walk after studying rather hard with S couple days ago. Then we witness the awesome "not sunset yet but soon" scene. My phone can't really capture it that well but it was pretty and spectacular with visible rays of sunshine shining down onto the sea. Yes, it's a sea but I took it in a way that makes it look like a lake!

The studying paid off as I manage to do pretty well for my test yesterday. And I did alright for the project today. Then there's another test on Friday, along with 2 projects that are due.

And then exams starts next week. Oh, the hectic lifestyle of a student.

Today's National Day Eve, which means tomorrow is an off day, but it already was for me in the first place so it's kind of a waste. That said, I saw a hell lot of JC and Secondary students walking around in red today. (celebration in schools)

I kinda miss that feeling of celebrating something with the entire school. I miss children's day. I'll probably post some random funny videos later. Life is really too boring.

Daily Photo #39 - Pasir Ris MRT Station

Pasir Ris MRT
Well, hung out at fat's house before going for dinner and walking all the way to Expo. The new mall that opened, named Changi City Point.

Click on image to view full screen.

Okay, first off, there are many more pictures that I'm not going to upload today because I'm not done editing / stitching them together. Also, I'm going for night cycling soon so I'm trying to rest as much as possible right now.

Okay, the other thing is, that image has already been compressed. It's roughly 2.1MP when I compressed it. The original image size is. 35.4MP.

Yeah, it really lags my computer when I'm putting them together and editing.

Anyway,
stay tune for the rest of this post and the cycling one. Because I have a 46MP image along with a few pretty stunning shots.

Farewell my minions!
