Movie: About Time
Saturday, November 02, 2013

I wonder when was the last time I actually blogged about a movie, or watch a movie. I don't  watch romance movies often but man, this one's really good. Finally met up with Y and caught this movie.

Couple of things
1. Rachel McAdams is really pretty when she smiles.
2. British accent is always awesome.
3. I love time travelling.
4. Love comedy is cute.

The song How Long Will I love You is stuck in my head.

Well, if you haven't seen the trailer yet, it's about a plain guy who lived in a family where all the males could time travel back in time. (not forward) He doesn't use it for good nor evil, but solely to find his true love. The storyline is rather comical in it's own little ways, and the pretty actresses definitely makes it all that much better.

I really don't want to spoil the story so I'll just write about the thoughts it left me with.

There are many points in my life when I wish that I had the ability to time travel, be it for good or evil purposes. Every time I watch/read anything related to it, my mind switches into fantasy mode. At the end of the day, my conclusion is always the same: "Man, I wish I could time travel"

But obviously, I can't. (not yet anyway)

What other choice do I have but to live in the fantasies of the other authors? For this movie, I really like the concept of time travel that they have. There are some things that are set in stone in life; things that you simply cannot change not matter how much you want them to. Of course, these things are probably regrets.

Regrets. I have some sort of a love hate relationship with it. This is going to sound masochistic but sometimes, I feel that the sadness that stems from regrets is kind of beautiful. Not for the types of regrets where the outcomes are certain, for eg. If I had locked my bicycle, it wouldn't be stolen. But for the types where you think, "Had I done otherwise, would it have made a difference?"

What if.

As much as I hate to think about what ifs, I love to think about them too. Spending time to torture my mind with made up scenarios and possibilities.

So anyway, the movie had this tactic of being happy in life.
Live each day as if you have lived them before,
and appreciate the subtleties them.
So each day you wake up to your routine life, go through the motion as if you have went through before. But don't think too much about the actions you make, and enjoy all the little things around you.

On a random note, this post was supposed to be posted last week but then I kind of got distracted half way. I can't believe that my last post was last month. Well, shall try to make up for them with some awesome posts.

The Great Gatsby
Friday, May 24, 2013

Watched this today. It is alright I suppose.

It's based on a 1925 Novel, that I haven't read yet. And after watching this movie I'm probably not going to read it, ever. Don't get me wrong this isn't a bad movie, but it's the type of literature that you would only appreciate if you slow down your pace of life to truly understand the intentions of the author.

That said, I liked the story. I think that it is rather boring as a movie, but as a story, I liked it.

It's about the world seen in first person, by a guy who's always the third person. Things will always happen around him, but not to him. He uttered this phrase a couple of times, a phrase that has really struck a chord in me.

"I'm within, and without."

I liked the movie because it somehow feels like the way I think. I can't really put it into words properly, but if I had to write a story like that, I would probably write it very similar to how the movie presented itself.

So yeah, I think it's kinda worth a watch. Just know that it really isn't for everyone.

Went out to skate with S after that. Went a round around Pasir Ris park, and I swear it is crowded as hell. I mean, why would anyone want to hang out at Pasir Ris park on a public holiday?! Well, not to say that I didn't use to go there when I was a kid, but still, it amuses me to see so many cyclists around.

It was a rather nice day out, oh well, but then I'm really kind of losing the mood to write over here.
*Abrupt end.

I am back
Tuesday, April 30, 2013

Short update, I came back yesterday, had a short nap before heading out for basketball. Then went over to my friend's place to hang out till 4am. Woke up at noon today, went out to change my faulty sim card, then watched Iron Man 3. Which is why the phuket trip post is delayed. Should be heading out tomorrow too so... well, I'll take my time to craft a good one.

People have been telling me that Iron Man 3 isn't as good as the previous two. I beg to differ, sure the storyline isn't really anything to write home about, but the graphics? Unparalleled. Maybe there isn't that much of an improvement in visual effects compared to the first two but the sheer numbers of iron man machines is enough to send anyone into a spasm.

Oh well, I'll write somthing up tomorrow.

Kiseki, Jack the Giant Slayer
Friday, March 01, 2013

It's a phone, that's why the exposure is whacked.

Random shot at Kiseki; I haven't taken a picture in ages. It's the Japanese buffet that I wrote about the other day, and I still like it! They changed location though, from Hereen to Orchard Central. Which I must say, is an excellent choice.

It's 8 floors up and the view is pretty. Solely due to the massive glass panels, which must be a massive pain to clean everyday.

Where's the pictures of the food you say? I was hungry, so screw that. Special shout-out to D for treating me and G! Well, it's because I helped him out for a project some time ago. And thankgod for that, one should never pass up a free meal. As shown to me by a classmate I have never seen for an entire semester until the day the lecturer treated us to lunch.

We went to watch Jack the Giant Slayer afterwards.

Yeah, Jack and the beanstalk.(though the one used in this movie is a variation Jack the Giant Killer) I loved that beanstalk story when I was a kid. This movie has a slightly different plot though, and it's pretty decent. One could never really go wrong with a well aged story.

Everything was well until the very last moments. Like, literally down to the last 2 minutes. It ended weirdly. I'm totally fine ending the movie 2 mins earlier. Watch it for yourself; maybe you'll like how they closed the story at the end.

It has been awhile since I ate at a buffet, I'm definitely gained some unneeded weight. As pointed out to me by my AHS mate I met coincidentally at Lido Shaw.

On the random note, I'm going to break 50,000 views roughly tomorrow or the day after. It's probably the first time I've gotten that number. It means one or more things.
1. My writing has improved.
2. I have stalkers.
3. Google is magic.

And on that bombshell, it's time to end this post.

End of the world! 12-21-12
Saturday, December 22, 2012

It's a freaking Kong Ming Deng, idk why it's heart-shaped btw

I am very frustrated that I missed the time and date for this post. Nevertheless, it could also show that I've actually survived through this ordeal, in a very awesome fashion in fact.

We went to celebrate a very belated birthday for my clumsy friend on 20th Dec. Annoyingly though, there was 1 person who wasn't free that day, yet again. Fucking E. What can be awesome about a rushed, belated birthday? Well, the people of course. 13 years and counting, that's how fucking long it has been since I've known them.

Movie: Pitch Perfect
Thursday, November 22, 2012

What the hell, I wonder when was the last time I watched a movie. Couple months ago? Or maybe I did and forgotten about it, and forgot to write about it as well. Anyway, finally caught this movie today at The Cathay.

To sum the movie up in 3 words,
It's freaking hilarious.

The story line is so-so, the songs are pretty good, they had a really hot co-star. But Fat Amy is the bomb. She's funny, in so many ways. I find myself laughing even at her slightest expressions. And as you expect, she's really fat and rather obnoxious. Though it's really charming in it's own way. However, I wouldn't want to face someone like this in real life.

So about the hot co-star. Stacie. Her real name is Alexis Knapp, and she's on fire!

Here are some links if you've watched the show and wanted to see a couple of interviews.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ga-t_D-3p7E
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BtJR76Wh82U

But though she's hot an all, she doesn't really have much of a screen presence, other than occasionally distracting me with her boobies and all that. I have to at least put a picture of Fat Amy because she's just amazing at being funny.

Well anyway, go catch it if you haven't yet. I can pretty much guarantee that you will laugh your ass inside out. Sigh, I wish I could sing as well as they could too. It'll make life a little more interesting than what it is now.

The plan was to go for Korean BBQ after the movie. But we didn't because I am oh-so-broke and it'll be a dick move to our lovely halal friend. At dinner, I got really bored for whatever reason and tore up the receipt into many little pieces and told my friend "Here, I made a jig-saw puzzle you." Surprisingly, he started piecing them up together.

He actually succeeded lol

I folded that.
Well, we got rather bored because we were stuck between a rock and a crazy place, which can only be accurately described with this phrase.

"Too little time to do something, too much time to do nothing."

Well, it was a rather fun day and I finally wore the clothes I bought the other day out. Was needlessly dressed up though, but since it was in the town area, I thought it wouldn't hurt to gather some attention from some females. Until I get over my paranoia, there probably won't have any pictures of my suaveness up here, unfortunately.

That's about enough of drowning in my own ego, school starts late tomorrow, I should treasure this tear jerking-ly beautiful long sleep that I will get.

Step up 4, 4 Fingers and Vans
Friday, August 31, 2012

Went to watch this with Y today and first and foremost, this is a... mediocre movie. I mean, it's not bad, but really not that good, at all. The dances are still really good though, just a let down after the epic battles of Step Up 3.

I can't stress this any further, but the heroine is really pretty.

She's called Kathryn McCormick.

Oh, before the movie we ate at a place called 4 fingers. It's in the basement of... hmm. ION? I really can't remember. It's an interesting fast food restaurant and the food is unexpectedly good.

Crispy chicken, mm-mm!

Cute warning
"Please refrain from telling people about 4 Fingers Crispy Chicken. Help keep us a secret, like how you would keep your guilty pleasures a secret."

Well, that's a really cute and cocky sign to put on their cups. But I like the design of their cups. Really, all the other places should start using more interesting cup designs and stop using Coca-Cola designs all the time. It's boring as hell.

Shopping came next after the movie. As a guy, I am proud of the time I took to find the shoe I wanted. I've already had my eyes on the designs, there just wasn't a shoe size for me the other day at converse. Without further ado,

My first pair of Vans

I guess it is kinda plain, but it's the way I like it!

Surprisingly, I'm starting to shop a little more. Mainly because it's a necessity, but it also felt weirdly good.

Of course, the first reaction my bro gave when he saw those shoes were, "You know, I could get you fake ones for a cheaper price." I appreciate the thought but really, this is the typical Singaporean attitude you would expect from anyone in this country.

On the topic of shoes, I really want to start collecting sneakers. I have a major crush on sneakers. Maybe it stems from the fact that school shoes are sneakers, and I've been wearing them for a good 10 years. They are comfortable, flexible and relatively durable. The exact qualities you would look for a shoes. (other than design of course)

Converse sneakers are my favourite ones of all. Sure, the price is a little on the high side, but man they last for a really long time. My current pair of sneakers that died, served me dutifully for at least 2 years.

So yes, I especially want red and hot pink sneakers. Grey seems pretty nice too.
Alright I've gone on long enough about clothes it's turning me off. I shall stay home tomorrow and continue doing the geeky things that I do. Oh yeah, that's the stuff.

Movie: The Expendables 2
Thursday, August 30, 2012

Watched this with my classmates yesterday, to celebrate the end of exams!

The movie is violent as hell. But also incredibly funny. There are many famous actors like Arnold Schwarzenegger (terminator), Chuck Norris (internet meme), Sylvester Stallone (Rocky/Rambo), Bruce Willis (Die Hard), Jason Statham (Transporter), etc. So you can only imagine how epic this movie is.

Of course, being a violent comedy, the storyline made no sense whatsoever. Still, this is a good movie as we laughed the hell out of all the movie reference.

This is a bit of a spoiler,
but Arnold Schwarzenegger knelt down and said "I'll be back". I swear the entire cinema just roared into laughter. The appearance of Chuck Norris was fucking funny too. He took down 50+ men and a friggin' tank single-handedly.

Well, if you're a dude, you definitely must watch it. If you're a girl that likes violence, then go ahead, you'll definitely enjoy this.

With all that said.
EXAMS ARE FINALLY OVER. I AM FREE TO DO SHIT FOR AWHILE NOW.

Oh, and I finally bought some clothes (jeans) for myself. The life of a geekhood do not require much clothing but it's not a bad idea to clothe myself from time to time. It's sent for alteration now so there are no pictures. Maybe I should model a bit when I get it in a couple of days. Nah I'm kidding, I'm not a vain little bitch. Or am I?

Oh well, things will start to be a little more interesting now~

Brave the movie
Friday, August 17, 2012

Went to watch this pixar film with S.

How should I put it. This is not a bad film in anyway, in fact it's pretty good. Just really kiddy. (as it should be) There are no unexpected twists in plots or any deep story/meaning.  Everything is very clear and straight to the point. Which is good of course, just felt relative boring when I'm used to some really screwed up story lines.

Over all, if you love pixar films then this is one that you shouldn't miss. It felt pretty short though, since it's only 100mins. (1hour 40mins)

Today was a rather short day, since it has been only 11hours since I woke. I've hacked another router and my home network got better again but I shan't go into that.

There's this thing that has been bugging me. Which is the usage of the word "hacking". I know that the right way to describe what I do is hacking, but it's really not much of a hack or anything. Because it's really very easy and relatively straight forward. The only thing you need is to have knowledge of whatever that you're trying to do. Sure, hacking doesn't necessarily have to be hard per say, but that word carries more weight/pride than what I really do.

Oh well, that ends this little rant of mine. I guess I'm heading into the phase of realization that I'm just not that geeky of a geek. Still the Lord nonetheless.

The Dark Knight Rises
Friday, July 20, 2012

Managed to watch it last night.

Of course, I'm not going to spoil it for you. Overall, it was pretty good. Everything went smoothly and is easy to understand even though I didn't watch the other 2. (I should probably get to it when I have the time)

The only down side is that it's a super hero movie. Ironic as it sounds, because there's only a countable amount of plots that one can exploit when it comes to these kinds of story lines. This is a very small spoiler, but it's a little bit like Captain America.

Well, it's definitely worth a watch anyway, the predictable story line doesn't take away the action and excitement from all the fighting and killing!

Daily Photo #110 - Vivo City, Spiderman
Monday, July 02, 2012

I love pano shots

playground for kids

Went there to watch the amazing Spider man.

Well, amazing spider man is amazing.

I loved it. Story is pretty cliche I think, but it's great nonetheless. But then again, it's a super hero movie, how can it be un-cliche? At least it doesn't disappoints. Anyone who hasn't watched it yet should. It's probably a better version that the previous ones. And, there are hot actors in it.

That's it, I'm going to get bitten by an experimental spider now.

Daily Photo #94 - Avengers

Avengers!

Fuck yeah! Finally caught Avengers. It's awesome.

I loved it. But really, if it's just Iron Man in it, I would've still love it. Since... technological super heroes are kind of my role model.

Overslept today thanks to my phone hanging in the middle of the night.
It's 2am and I'm not asleep.
It's raining cats and dogs outside with lightning, thunder and that whole deal.
Trying to learn some more excel skills for financial planning.
Writing like this cause I'm really tired.
A freaking bright lightning just lit up my room.
Along with a low rumbling thunder.
I just don't feel like sleeping at the moment.
Yawns.

American Pie Reunion
Sunday, April 08, 2012

One of the best shows ever? Hell yeah!

I.. don't remember watching the entire series. But well, it somehow made sense when they made reference so it must have been one hell of a good show.

If you like dirty jokes, this is like the only one showing choked full with it.

I guess, you might find some of the jokes old if you've only just recently rewatched it, if not, it's a great show to watch with your friends, preferably the more open minded ones as there are quite a few glorious nude moments.

My favourite part of the show (spoiler alert!) is when he said,
"Is that a pussy on your face?"

You will understand what I mean when you watched it. That's really my favourite part of the entire show. I'm sooooo gonna do it to someone in the future.

Played pool/snooker again in the morning before the movie, realized that snooker is pretty fun too!

Long story short, this has nothing to do with what's on my mind at the moment. I bought a Bluetooth keyboard yesterday. Had the time to experiment a few stuffs with it today, so far I really loved it. More on it, on my next post.

Fridays: Hunger Games, We Are Young
Saturday, March 24, 2012

That's the gist of what yesterday was about.

We watched The Hunger Games at Tiong Bahru yesterday because the town cinemas only had the front rows available, curses for not booking early.

What up! For the record, I haven't read the book yet, so this movie was really awesome. It's not mind blowing in any sense. It's just a really nice story. It's rare these days to have movies to have a real plot that is worth watching even though there isn't a heck lot of visual flare (not that there is little in this show)

Verdict:
Watch it.

Now, for the part that comes after the movie.

Movie: You're the apple of my eye. Stupid show.
Wednesday, November 23, 2011

Just watched this yesterday.

It was funny as hell. But it certainly lived up to it's NC16 rating. With lots of boners and fapping. Oh the fapping. Also gay sex and lots of porn references. It makes that so much better.

So, I hate the girl.

OH NO YOU DIDN'T! Oh hell yeah I did.

I split the post due to spoilers. So don't read it unless you've watched it, or you don't plan to watch it.

In Time
Saturday, October 29, 2011

Okay, first thing you need to know about this, is that.

Amanda Seyfried is hot.

She is just, so incredibly hot in this movie! Like, omg. Okay, the other thing is that this show is an absolute beauty. You just have to watch it. It's.. more of a work of fantasy than a movie. Really, it was so awesome I forgot to pee.

I really don't have much to say except that you must watch this. Really. Though they always tell people not to oversell things, but well, I guess it wouldn't hurt too badly for this.

It reminds us of a really important thing about life.

Live everyday like it's your last.

Fridays must always be awesome
Saturday, October 22, 2011

A great start to a buffet

Helll yeaaaaah. Went for a buffet yesterday with my classmates. Also caught a really interesting movie ^^

So this restaurant is called Kiseki, Located at Heeren, somewhere near Paragon at Orchard. The food is pretty darn good. It's better than Sakae or Seoul, at least to me. The style of the food is Japanaese, which makes it that much better.

260 Orchard Road, #B1-01 The Heeren, Singapore

You can check online for the other prices. But on weekdays, lunch timing, you can get it for $19.80 after GST and blahblah it's like 23.30. Well, true that it's not cheap for a meal, but man, it's definitely worth it. At least much more than the alternatives.

But as with all buffets, you get board of it after awhile. Oh, the deserts are pretty good. Yeah, next time if you're thinking of where to go for a buffet, don't limit yourself to the normal choices (:

After this we watched.....

Friends with Benefits

Is this funny? Yes, very so.
Should you watch it with someone you're not close to?

Not recommended unless you're trying to get in their pants.

It could plant a really awesome, yet nasty idea in your head. Okay about the movie, I really really like the girl. I mean she's cute and all but that's not the main point, I like her voice haha! Word of advice, it's M18. So well, unless you're confident in your ninja skills, then, it's game over for you.

After this, I said,
"COME ON, IT'S TOO EARLY TO GO HOME. It's friday!"

My friend suggested that we play pool, and off we go! Of course, I insisted that we picked a place closer to my house. For 3 reasons.

  1. It's faster to get to from town.
  2. It's not as crowded
  3. It's nearer to my house.

So yeah we played till night before heading home, THEN, we decided to play games online. Till like 3am~+

I was effectively awake for 21hours, my friend was awake for, 40hours because he didn't sleep. And all of this sums up to a pretty awesome friday. Well, it's normal I guess, but I like it like that :D

Midnight in Paris
Friday, October 14, 2011

Is this good? HELL YES.
Should you watch it? NOPE.

There's a variety of reason for it. But first, let me convince you that it is good.

As you can see, it has a really really high rating.

HOWEVER, this is highly, like, fucking highly historical. Not in the ancient history or some weird era. But you need to be fairly well versed with the famous people in the 1900s. And some in the 1800s.

If you don't even know who Pablo Picasso, T.S. Eliot or Salvador Dalí is, you probably shouldn't be watching this. Even the great and awesome me only recognize about half or less of them. Because well, I was never really into books, so I didn't really know many great writers. Though, I have no idea how I even know any of them.

Nevertheless, even if you don't know any of them. It still doesn't make for a bad movie. It will just be better by leaps and bounds if you know your stuff.

I feel like reading up on all the characters and rewatching it again. It is a really romantic show. Not so much of a comedy. But I've always liked the 18s and 19s, I like the vibe I get from it, so I enjoyed the entire movie thoroughly.

Anyway, I was out with P and M and met S on the way back. It was, well, a little weird here and there but all the quirks and kinks got ironed out after awhile. It was pretty fun. Blah blah blah, should probably start catching up with everyone. Sadly, school's starting next week. My posts are probably going to get a lot more boring from now on!
