POP lo!
Friday, October 18, 2013

After 4 months of grueling training, I have finally graduated from BMT.

Alright because there's really just too many things that has happened over the past few weeks so I'm going to consolidate everything in kind of a half-assed manner. But yeah, there's still the stupid field camp to write about. But anyway, first and foremost, I have finally left that island!

The rest of the pictures are already on FB so... yeah can't be bothered to post them all. But my bro really did take quite a few good shots, not bad.

So in the previous post I wrote about signing on Army.

Well, that didn't happen.

To more be precise, I was rejected for that vocation. You must think that the army must be crazy for turning me down, and yeah they are; but there are a ton of reasons why it didn't go through. The thing is that this was always a win-win situation for me. It doesn't matter if I didn't enter because it just means that I will only have 2 years to serve instead of 5.

Oh, yeah by the way I got posted as an Auto Tech. Which means that I will be repairing vehicles. It's... rather interesting to me. I have always been interested in vehicles and this is just a chance for me to actually get my hands on them.

Well, it's actually really lucky that I got this. I don't think that I will have to run about; I think. Either way, seems like the next 2 years of my life has been settled, there's not much to say about it until I go next Monday.

Disassembling and cleaning my laptop
Thursday, June 14, 2012

Sony VAIO VPCEA16FG

It has been about 2 years or so since I got this. This is the first time I actually opened it up fully. (the other time was just upgrading the HDD to SSD)

My only reason is just to clean it. Mainly because it's running really hot lately and I'm pretty darn sure it's because of the dust building up inside. Surprisingly, there really isn't as much dust as I expected. Probably due to me regularly cleaning it. So here's the unveiling of the internals!

It is, really a lot easier to open up than ACER laptops. I hate ACER laptops due to the way it's constructed. I took a couple more shots for the sake of it.

I noticed something interesting. The way the heat is distributed across is kind of shitty. The orange thingy you see is a copper pipe. It transfers the heat from the presumably graphics chip along with the CPU beside with a separate pipe to the fan/heat sink. It's ingenious, but a really cheaps way of doing it. CHEAPSKATE.

There is... almost no airflow to speak off. At least that's what I can tell from the design of the fan.

It's the moment of "oh, no wonder". Also, if you notice, there are some discolouration in the copper pipes. That's because it probably sustained high temperatures for quite a long period of time. Which causes it to oxidize, as you can see from the darker blotches. That translates to lower conductivity over time.

Of course, my parents wouldn't understand WTF I'm saying, I'll just be waiting for this laptop to fail. Let's hope it doesn't fuck up during something important.

Oh well, this has been an interesting experience for me.

Daily Photo #46 - Cycling at ECP with rain and strangers
Wednesday, December 28, 2011

Went cycling with 2 gay buddies. The others pangsehed. Eat this. Though the main point really was to take photos, I guess I manage to accomplish it. This is a super photo intensive post, so I'm probably too lazy to write a lot. Just click on and enjoy the photos (:

I expected too much from a compact camera
Sunday, October 09, 2011

It's almost 2am in the night/morning, there was a heavy downpour outside my window. I was feeling awake, so I thought,

"What the hell. Let's do it!"

I borrowed a tripod from my brother and went out to make some magic. First, before I start on anything, let me just emphasize how stupid I looked using a compact camera on top of a huge ass tripod. It's not that it's wrong or anything, it just looks weird.

f/8 5" ISO100
There was other shots before this, but it looked awful as I was just fiddling around manual mode to get the right settings. Even with a tripod, it's hard getting everything focused properly when the rain and wind is beating you relentlessly.

Oh before I go on, I must STRESS that this is only experimental!

Long Live Play! - Best PS3 commercial ever
Saturday, October 08, 2011

I am not kidding, you must watch it! Provided that you play games of course.

From what I can tell, there is

  • Medal of Honour (or Battlefield)
  • Uncharted 3
  • Final Fantasy 13
  • NFL
  • Splinter Cell
  • Batman Arkham Asylum
  • Little Big Planet
  • God of War 3
  • S.T.A.L.K.E.R (or FEAR)
  • Assassin's Creed
  • Modern Warfare...?

(quite a few I can't recognize)

I can't remember the guy with lightning, some game where he's pretty much a imba character going round destroying stuffs. I also can't remember the guy with the skull mask.

Wait, before you rage on me. I have never ever played any of those games before, except Assassin's Creed and Modern Warfare. But I am a geek, so I know what are the latest and greatest game out there. (well more or less)

So I'll say that I did pretty well from memory without ever playing them before!

Man, I would totally play those games if I could.
