Beautiful Singapore: Marina Barrage, Garden by the Bay

Went to Marina Barrage to have a picnic with my friends the other day, sadly, there was some kind of event going on and we couldn't go on top. Which I think is extremely unreasonable since it's a public place and to book such a big area without any signs or whatsoever is really irresponsible.

So we ended up sitting at some random corner.


I managed to get some pretty good shots that day and it all balances out the lack of planning. There was sandwiches, donuts and mash potato. I think that's about it? It was supposedly a light lunch anyway. As usual, I forgot to take pictures of food, it just didn't cross my mind.

We then walked across the bridge because there wasn't anything else to do over there!

We then decided to go and have a look at Gardens by the Bay. As we were walking, I somehow manage  to snap this picture perfect shot.

Oh, my flower friend was wearing a really beautiful dress. Everyone should wear like this.


As we entered Gardens by the Bay, my attention was turned towards the flora and fauna. For a good reason too, snapping shots of people walking non-stop is pretty boring. Also, this is my first time there. We didn't go to the conservatoire though, due to the $20 entrance fee. I will and must visit it one day though. It is very beautiful, even looking from the outside. I never knew that Singapore had such a place (it's new). Maybe I should find some people to go look at some still life with me.

There's a bridge too

It's simply a very beautiful place. Even with a slight drizzle and overcast skies, it didn't spoil the experience for me. At the end of it, we walked towards Marina Bay Sands on this bridge.

As you can see, there are a lot of people, to be expected on a weekend. 


This is the first time I've seen water flowing from this reversed dome shaped thingy. I assume it's just rain water collected and pumped through the pipes. It was very spectacular, something that you have to see it with your own eyes to truly appreciate the beauty of water swirling down a bowl. Pretty much like a glorified toilet bowl.

After hours of scenic exploration, we settled down at Pastamania for dinner.


I have "colored" all the images. Because life is boring when you take it at face value. Memories are always far more interesting as we add our own perspective and feelings to it. Even gray skies will be a masterpiece when seen through our eyes of the mind. I will probably continue doing this, until I have a camera capable of capturing something I want.

All in all, this was a really fun. The ending was anti-climax but well, looking at the shots I've gotten throughout the day, I'm spiritually satisfied.

Sweltering heat in Sentosa

Why would you style your hair when you're going to play in the sun?

For some reason I really liked this shot

I went to Sentosa with my classmates the other day. Since we're not going to USS or some other stuffs there, I don't understand the appeal of the crazily hot beach. It looked like it was going to rain at first, with ominous clouds loitering the skies, but the sea breeze blew them right off!



Of course, there also isn't an abundance of female to guy ratio, which made me even less motivated. But surprisingly it was a rather interesting day out. There was volley ball, frisbee, captain's ball and a lot of running around. Running towards places with shades that is.

Half way through, a bunch of SP guys asked if we wanted to play captain's ball with them. Of course, it's only because they didn't have a ball and we actually have girls with us. *inserts maniac laughter* But of course, the 6 of us shred their asses to pieces. It's rather shocking how good we are actually, or maybe they felt shy and held back or something.

Well, I didn't actually take a lot of pictures because I'm more interested in playing around in the sun that day. I probably became darker, though the effect is not as pronounced as I thought it would be.

However, I did manage to take quite a few shots that I liked.





I've applied a lot of filters in this batch of pictures. Mainly cause I downloaded some new ones and wanted to test them out. They turned out pretty okay!

I suddenly realized that I don't write a lot about the food I eat. Unlike my other friend Y, who almost exclusively write about food. I realized that because I wanted to write something about dinner, but I totally don't have any pictures of the food at all.

So after dinner, we actually thought of going over to B's house and play Mahjong overnight. But we were so shagged, the only choice was to get some rest at home. The story did not end there though, we decided to meet up at 8am the next day to play. Everything proceeded as planned the next day, but we got bored after playing for about 5 hours. The obvious thing to do next? Basketball! We played only for a little while though. Maybe an hour? Before heading to have lunch.

I'll say that this has been a rather excellent way to end my holidays. To end off this post, I'll put up a picture of my friend. He said and I quote, "If you put my handsome face up your blog, you'll get a thousand views immediately."

We will find out soon enough, won't we? ^^

Punggol End... End?

As I was saying in the previous post, I went skating to the end of Punggol End yesterday.

I took quite a few pictures, some are repetitive so i won't bother posting them, and some I would like to keep for my daily photo thingy.

Let me start by showing what I think would be your favourite shot, followed by mine.

Daily Photo #81 - Haw Par Villa: Viewer discretion advised

Entrance

Went to Haw Par Villa (虎豹別墅) with J today. She needed it for a project, I just wanted to go and take a look because it's interesting and as it turns out, I've never been there before.

If you're wondering what that place is,

Haw Par Villa, formerly called Tiger Balm Gardens, was originally constructed in 1937 by "Tiger Balm King" Aw Boon Haw as a grand residence for his younger brother, Aw Boon Par, who helped create their fortune with the anagesic balm.  In English, Haw Par Villa translates as Villa of the Tiger and Leopard.
Aw Boon Haw then created an entertainment park to teach and preserve Chinese values.   The park's colorful collection of over 1,000 statues and 150 giant tableaux centered around Chinese folklore, legends, history, and Confucian ideology.  Morality tales included classic battles between good and evil and tributes to Chinese cultural heroes such as the famous pugilist Wu Song, who tamed a ferocious tiger with his bare hands.

A little fun fact, I actually like these kinda things! I took 234 pictures today, and I uploaded 67. So you're going to have a really fun time viewing all of these. If you're interested that is. Which I'm pretty sure you would be because I saw a few really interesting statues and stuff.

By the way, there are a bunch of pictures that I took because I thought it was just funny/interesting. Those will be obvious because I dosed them with instagram effects. Like the pig up there. There's 2 reasons for doing that,
1. I'm going to make a joke about it.
2. I got lazy editing.

The main point of this post isn't about the chalet.

Because I somehow managed to captured 3 photos that I'm really really happy with.
Let me start it off with my favourite shot of the day.

I'm simply love how the colours melt together. I mean, yeah, I edited it quite a bit but at least it worked out nicely. I realize that when you keep editing non-stop, it's no longer about fixing the image, it became painting with light and colours.

Swim off the edge?

As you can see, it is a beautiful view.

It's a stupid story how I ended up staying the night at MBS, Simply put, my friend had a room, but no one else. So being a nice guy I decided to just keep him company so that he wouldn't be weirded out by ghosts. Of course, it's also because he's been my friend for over 10years. Yes, another one, it's not surprising is it?

Well, the bed is large and comfortable. But it's annoying. Because without the blanket, it's too cold, but it's too warm under it. So I had a hell of a time trying to get to sleep.

We actually didn't do much. I came from a so called "farewell" gathering with my gay buddies, it was after 12 and I was tired as hell.

Here's the other thing, the bottles of water that they say are "complementary"? Do not drink them. I'm serious.

They're drugged.

I swear I'm honest, it makes you thirsty when you drink them. So it forces you to buy drinks from them. Seeing as how a coke costs 7bucks, you really don't want to mess with this shit.

I'm not lying.

The interesting part, of course, comes next morning when we had the opportunity to visit the sky garden.
