Food food and more food!
Sunday, March 02, 2014

Well, the last post was on Valentine's. It's not that there isn't anything to write about, but the stuff I want to write about, takes up the time I have for writting.  I keep saying that I want to write more, but I give up. I'll just try to do this whenever I have the time to.

For the past 2 weeks, I pretty much gorged myself with good food. But I'm not just going to let all those excess calories take up additional mass inside of me, have to at least put them to some use.

At MJC

Play some table tennis in camp and attempted to train for my pull-ups, but it turned out to be a one-time thing. Really need to put more dedication into that. Well, let's not sweat about the sweat, and move on to the food.

Domino's | Finger to show size of pizza!

Met up with the gang and we were supposed to go out and eat something better, but after we met up at C's place and played a game or two of Dota2, we thought, "Ah, screw this, let's just order pizza." Or maybe it was just a couple of us who thought that; but this is the perfect example of how lazy guys can get once they bunch up together.

10pc KFC because we indulge in fats

A bowl of cucumber to make us feel better about ourselves

Went out with Y on a Saturday where she redeemed her one set of free lunch (a 2-3month late birthday lunch). Bacon is always awesome, not as awesome when stuffed with a buttload of vegetables, but I think that I should really make a conscious effort to eat more healthily.

French Toast | Really sweet and awesome

Caught The Lego Movie after this!

Definitely the happiest thing that I've watched this year. Got really hooked onto Everything is Awesome. The movie is made to look like stop-motion but it isn't as much of a turn off as I thought it would be. It actually some sort of meaning to the story though I'm not quite sure what it is.

Regardless, it's a good movie and I recommend everyone to give it a shot!
Got some sushi after that at Itacho's; clearing my cravings one at a time! Met some old faces while I was shopping for some clothes (tally: 2 jeans 1 jacket). They wore a suspicious look throughout the entire conversation, and I probably wouldn't blame them for that...

Moving on, I removed my glass screen protector because it wasn't applied properly and it has this hideous bubble on the top left & right. I was curious about it's anti-shatter properties, so I went ahead to shatter it utterly.

It really held itself together really well. There are some glass dust from the shattering but it kept in one piece no matter how I tried to bend and twist it. Me likey and approve. (have swapped to a better tempered glass protector by Nilkin and it's perfect now)

Attended my childhood friend's 21st Birthday. I'm ashamed not to have gotten him anything better but... ah, it was kind of last minute. Have to make it up to him some other day. We just kind of randomly got him a bottle of Famous Amos Cookies.

There wasn't much I could say about the party as it was small and cozy. With just his close friends and relatives. I've known him for more than half my life, standing at an awesome number of 13 years.

There was one Tuesday when I went for my physiotherapy (nothing serious) and because of some rescheduled event we got the priviledge to stay out that night. I live too damn far to return home but we did grab some pizza from Pizza Hut!

Watched Pompeii after food.

And it sucked.
Really
Really
Badly
I swear this is probably the worst movie that I've ever watched. The story behind why we were watching it is because we missed the best timing for Lone Survivor so we decided to troll this friend by watching something we already knew would suck. Bad choice.

Sunrise.

Woke up to this the next day, and it was freaking amazing. Totally pumped up to go through the day, especially since it was Wednesday and it's nights out day!

Finally met up with S after what seems like forever (POP day). Had a relatively weird experience shopping for some stuffs but then the food and catching up was good! (MOF). Kind of forgot to take picture of the food because we were too busy trying to camp about 4-5months worth of events into what little time we had.

But dessert, everyone always have time for desserts.

I think I should go out and meet people more often. But my computer needs some loving too. I point my finger at the Army for taking away my computer time. If only if I have that back I would be more inclined to go out often.

Speaking of computers, I bought a couple of new stuffs from the IT fair at MBS. Firstly is a new Dell Ultrasharp 24" Monitor (U2414H), and a portable router from TP-LINK MR3020. Got a freebie from purchasing the monitor, Razer Electra Headphones. Not including any pictures now because my room is messy as hell and it wouldn't be good to show off my computing environment like this; of which I finally have a dual-monitor set-up. Something that I have dreamed of for many many years. It is still not ideal yet due to different monitor models but one day, I would make everything look all good and neat.

I kind of messed up the chronological order but the gay gang had dessert on Friday night.

Family Deal | One of everything please!

All in all, the past 2 weeks has been pretty eventful as you can see. Thanks to that, my wallet looks like it has been on a diet. Need to conserve whatever monetary resource I have until my next pay.

As I turn my attention to the future, I'm going to experience something pretty awesome soon. For the next 2 weeks, I'm going on course at the anus of Singapore (Sungei Gedong) to learn driving starting tomorrow.

Drive what you ask?
A motherfucking tank.

Well techincally speaking it isn't exactly a tank as it's meant to fight people, but it sure does look like a tank.

Packed up most of my stuffs and I'm ready to head there to experience what living in an anus feels like. Looking past all the negativity, I am stoked to get a tank driving license. I mean, how often can you say that you have a license to drive a tank?!

Well, that's most of what I wanted to say sans the nitty gritty stuffs, hopefully the next update wouldn't be 2 weeks later...

February 14th
Saturday, February 15, 2014

Valentine's Day, one of the most commercialized day designed to painfully force single people to understand their situation. Thanks to that, it has made disillusioned people like me to make up days like Friendship Day to compensate for the lack of love.

But guess what, it works. And we got to eat some pretty good food with people we like to hang out with. It's kind of impromptu but we (my army mates) decided to go have some xiao long baos.

Anyway, these are all shot on my Xperia Z1 and I swear the pictures are amazing for a phone.

Paradise Dynasty - The legend of xiao long bao

What I chose for myself!

XLB FTW

Well, apart from the food; the February 14th was a really interesting day for us. We got turned out and had our initiation. I probably shouldn't expose the details of what happened and the things we did but it was definitely acceptable and within reason.

It still doesn't change the fact that we're really tired after that from waking up early in the morning.

After the initiation was done, we received our black beret and a badge from the 41SAR CO and 1AMB CO respectively. Yes, we are under both units. It's rather confusing but we'll see how it'll work out over the course of my army life. This also means that I have 2 berets, one blue and one black. I have to say that I'm rather proud of it. The badge... well I left it in camp but my friend took a photo of it (at home)

Photo: From Blue to Black beret...
Welcome to 1st AMB, 41 SAR!
Adept, Motivated, Best!
PRESSURE FORWARD!

This day also officially marks the end of our training. We have finally fully graduated as technicians. This also means that we're going to have a lot more work to do in the weeks to come.

Every week I come back home and all I want to do is lie down and rest. Often I feel that it's a waste of time but you know, I don't think that resting your mind and body counts as wasting time. Sure I could go out, mingle around and make some awesome memories, but ending up being really tired after all of that isn't a worthy trade-off for me. Or maybe I'm just plain lazy.

Back to Valentine's Day. Honestly I can't remember one where I spent it with someone I love. Either there isn't any, or that for some reason it fucks up before this day. Though receiving brownies from my close friend definitely makes me feel like romantic love isn't the end all be all. The greatest part about having female friends are days like these man.

That said, I really shouldn't settle in my own bubble.
Maybe it's time for me to find some one.

Phuket Trip: Day 1
Thursday, May 02, 2013

The 5 of us arrived at Changi Airport at 6 in the morning, had breakfast and hung around until it was about time for boarding.

Here's a tip

Always go early and wait inside the waiting area if you're on a budget airline. We were the last 5. The last bus going to the plane was about the leave, the pilot was on the verge of leaving us behind. (Even though we were technically on time)

So yeah, we entered the transport bus sheepishly under the glares of 40 over passengers. As for the flight, we went with Tiger Airways, and as you expect from a budget airline, the interior of the plane feels like a bus, only with less space; it's almost like The Magic School Bus

After 1.5 hours of restricted leg movements coupled with intense drowsiness, we finally landed in Thailand, Phuket.

Daily Photo #136 - Korean BBQ
Friday, April 05, 2013

All meat galore

I think Daily Photo kinda lost it's meaning. But oh well I think I'm starting to have a little more mood to take pictures.

Korean BBQ Buffet, located at Tampines T1, 4th floor, beside Challenger. I totally forgot what it's called. But it's relatively cheap, ended around $16.50 per person. However, and it is a huge however, you have a 2 hour time limit. Which isn't very strictly enforced I think?

My awesome creation

I have created the most awesome roll ever.
It's Teriyaki Chicken, wrapped in Bacon Strip, wrapped in Thin Pork Belly.

It tastes pretty darn good, less could be said about the ability to eat it without making a fool of yourself. It's too much to stuff in one go, and not enough structural integrity to sustain being bitten. It was awesome eating nothing but meat, the only complain I had was that the chopsticks were really hard to use. It's thin, but not over all, it's thin like it's flat. So if you had a cross-section diagram it'll look like a rectangle rather than a square.

Hung out at K's before heading for Basketball. Now I'm sore all over and practically didn't move at all today. Man, I'm definitely not looking forward to soccer tomorrow.

Kiseki, Jack the Giant Slayer
Friday, March 01, 2013

It's a phone, that's why the exposure is whacked.

Random shot at Kiseki; I haven't taken a picture in ages. It's the Japanese buffet that I wrote about the other day, and I still like it! They changed location though, from Hereen to Orchard Central. Which I must say, is an excellent choice.

It's 8 floors up and the view is pretty. Solely due to the massive glass panels, which must be a massive pain to clean everyday.

Where's the pictures of the food you say? I was hungry, so screw that. Special shout-out to D for treating me and G! Well, it's because I helped him out for a project some time ago. And thankgod for that, one should never pass up a free meal. As shown to me by a classmate I have never seen for an entire semester until the day the lecturer treated us to lunch.

We went to watch Jack the Giant Slayer afterwards.

Yeah, Jack and the beanstalk.(though the one used in this movie is a variation Jack the Giant Killer) I loved that beanstalk story when I was a kid. This movie has a slightly different plot though, and it's pretty decent. One could never really go wrong with a well aged story.

Everything was well until the very last moments. Like, literally down to the last 2 minutes. It ended weirdly. I'm totally fine ending the movie 2 mins earlier. Watch it for yourself; maybe you'll like how they closed the story at the end.

It has been awhile since I ate at a buffet, I'm definitely gained some unneeded weight. As pointed out to me by my AHS mate I met coincidentally at Lido Shaw.

On the random note, I'm going to break 50,000 views roughly tomorrow or the day after. It's probably the first time I've gotten that number. It means one or more things.
1. My writing has improved.
2. I have stalkers.
3. Google is magic.

And on that bombshell, it's time to end this post.
