Actually I've been starting to write on my own private blog hosted on my network. S introduced me to this band couple days backs with Tongue Tied. I loved it, and decided to check out their album Never Trust A Happy Song, turns out that Itchin on a Photograph would be my favourite one!

It has a very indie feel to it, I'm not not the greatest fan of indie, but I do appreciate quite a few songs from this genre.

Today was extremely unhappening, to the point where I could almost say that nothing happened. Really slacked through today, reading mangas and finally watched The Hobbit. Yeah, it was boring as everyone had claimed. Still, I pretty much watch it for Gandalf, I have a crush on that old man.

Time to try and be more productive.
Or I could go have a game of Dota, maybe two... We'll see.

Rant: Little sense of urgency

Thankfully I'm completed and submitted all my projects in time last week. Which means that I am free of all the burdens for the moment, except for the upcoming exams that is. Even though I should be worried about it, very worried in fact, but I just don't sense the urgency.

This is also why I have been blogging properly, and pretty much just lying around. I'm looking to give this blog another overhaul. I still like it a lot, but it lacks something I can't put in words.

So I've been looking through a lot of website designs trying to find some inspiration. There are tons of beautiful designs, unfortunately, most of them are not suited for a blog. There are couple that I found interesting and are in the process of getting some cues here and there.

Yes they are all minimalistic, I like it this way. I want to focus on typography, which is something I'm still not very good at.

Just watched this couple days back.



This is the main theme of the show, and I absolutely love it. I have this very vague memory of this melody since I was a kid but I could never place my finger on where it was from. It brings me great satisfaction to hear this lovely melody once again.

If you've never watched this before in your entire life, you should definitely take a look. The moral of the story is:
If you stay optimistic and look for opportunities to make boring things fun, life would be a lot more interesting and happier. 

I'm actually quite impressed with the special effects in the film. For something made in 1964, it's definitely very convincing.

Ending this abruptly as usual, the end of the year is fast approaching. Sigh.

pizza hut~ 

Went all the way to ECP with S & Y; for the sake of singing. We wanted to try shooting a cover but failed rather miserably. Or rather, I have no idea how it turned out because my camera's volume is too soft and I am too damn tired to go through the videos now.

Didn't take many pictures as it was raining pretty much the entire day and there isn't much that I could do about it. I'm just trying to ramble out my thoughts before I forget them.

We really tried to take a proper song cover but it was hilarious as hell trying to do it in public. Needless to say I am not really confident in my skills and it was both amusing and embarrassing at the same time. I am rather impressed by how well she played the ukelele, I had absolutely no idea when the hell she picked that skill up. But kudos to finding the correct chords as we sing randomly along.

It was a really really funny day out. Practically laughed for 8 hours. 12/12/12 is a rather special day after all (:

I spent my afternoon watching this musical, and I absolutely loved it. Audrey Hepburn is so friggin' pretty and talented. Here's the awesome thing, it's actually available on Youtube in HD. How crazy is that. Also, I discovered something awesome recently, you can actually watch Youtube on VLC player just by pasting the link in the "open" window. And the streaming works flawlessly, I could even use another subtitle file for it.

I love musicals, I always have and probably always will. The language they use is simply beautiful. There's this song that amused me immensely.

This song is about how gay people are simply not accepted in this society. Oh well. I love the tune and the lyrics. I'm charmed by Mika, mainly because he's quirky. (not weird) I love quirky people. I think everyone should be quirky, but then again that would make everyone seem normal. Found a girl last time who rolled on the floor after eating because "it feels good". Sadly we kinda lost contact.

I guess I like quirky people because I'm pretty quirky myself. Though I can't exactly pinpoint what exactly it is with me, but I'm pretty sure my friends don't think I'm normal or anything positive sounding. But I like it this way, for life is just a game and it wouldn't be worth living if it ain't fun. Quirky people are awesome because they have their own idiosyncrasies that doesn't affect anyone around them.

Mika's music make me want to sing and dance in my own little world, however sad the lyrics are, you can always make it sound like it's a good thing! An example would be Happy Ending by Mika.

Haven't done anything at all for the whole day at all, really. Between last night and today I finished the first two movies of Lord of the Rings.

My choice of music suddenly took an interesting direction, and I've been mostly listening to those while I was surfing the net and stuffs. I'm not sure if I'm sad, stoned or simply at peace with myself (Zen). My favourite song at the moment is this, Ring your song.

It's and OST from one of my all-time favourite anime, Tsubasa Chronicles. It was discontinued before season 3, something that I still lament til this date. Most of the music are just... music, either piano or orchestra pieces. One really good one is from Final Fantasy.



Well, that's just kind of my mood at the moment. You should be able to tell from the two pieces of music here. This is one of the times when music expresses my thoughts better than words or pictures. This is probably the most boring post I've intentionally written, but it's a luxury to be boring and enjoy life as it is.

If you just Youtube for this music, you will see many many versions of it.

I think that if you watch anime, this if one of the series you definitely must watch. Sadly it's only 13 episodes but it's just ridiculous how good it is. A fair bit of warning though, this is an adult theme. So there are a lot of nudity and gore. The story is also really tragic, so prepare yourself for the emotional assault!

Well, I'm probably going to rewatch it once I have the time to do so. I'm currently at episode 31 of One Piece. Just over 500 to go. I realized that I actually do watch One Piece last time. Because everything felt familiar. Except for the first couple of episodes, I never knew how the hell the crew came together until now.

Fiddler on the roof - If I were a rich man

I just finished watching Fiddler on the roof (1971), another musical film.
My favourite song from the musical, If I were a rich man.



"Lord who made the lion and the lamb. You decreed I should be what I am, would it spoil some vast eternal plan, if I were a wealthy man?"

I don't understand why no such films/musicals are made anymore, because I absolutely adore it, I can feel my eyes sparkle when I watch it. This film is 3hours long, I would gladly sit in the cinema/theater for that amount of time for such quality films.

This film is the life of a poor man who lived in 1905, a few decades before world war 2 started. He's a Jew so there is discrimination and all, you get the idea.

Even though this isn't really about the holocaust, but of all the documentaries or movies I've watched about the holocaust, none of them actually made me feel as much as this did. Facts can teach me a lot of things, but music can actually make me feel it.

I've only just downloaded it through torrents so it's probably not that hard to get it. But if you really really couldn't find it, drop me a message or anything, I'll find a way to send it over to you. (I got the HD version, 8GB)

Every time I watch a musical film, it just makes me feel that movies nowadays are very shallow. With all the flashy explosions and "exciting" story lines that doesn't have real feelings behind them.

Old films are wonderful, instead of using eye popping visuals to tell the story, they use expressions, songs and dance. It's ironic, as much as I love the arrival of the internet, it really feels like the world was a happier place without it. Culture is evolving at a crazy rate, it's not a bad thing per say but I really wouldn't mind living a few decades earlier. Though there will be much more inconvenience, it's worth it.

I shall continue hunting down great musical films like these. Please tell me if you know of any!
