Something I learn from having bad moods
Saturday, January 14, 2012

If you could tell from my posts or the lack thereof, I wasn't in the best of moods this week.

Maybe it was the amount of projects I'm having, maybe it's lack of sleep, maybe it's family/friends, maybe it's just a mood swing that lasted longer than usual. Either way, the end result is a unmotivated and lethargic me.

It ended being something that I said to my friend that made a lot of sense to me.
Everyone wishes that their lives were like a movie, filled with romance and action. Our mundane lives pale in comparison and everyday is just so bloody boring.

But I beg to differ. Our lives are way more interesting than movies but we just don't seem to feel it. If you think of your life as a school movie (cause it applies to me for the moment), we've had all the studying scene, we had the romance scene (be it fulfilled or one sided), we had the partying and getting screwed in exams scene, we had the slapped by life scene, we had the tear jerking graduation scene. I mean, if you just take out all the good parts from the past 4 years of your life, I'm sure it'll make a pretty damn good movie.

"I guess it's really true that in the end,
it's the little things in life that counts."

Anyway, here are the little things that happened this week that made me feel better. Starting with this picture that I took just yesterday.

It's my Galaxy S, reflecting off my school and the sky. And yes I had to clean it pretty thoroughly. Of course, the beauty is one portion of the equation, here's the little thing that made it so much better.

Well, it wasn't my finger just to be clear.

So the other little things are like the revival of Tako Balls and Glutinous rice w/ meat in my school, which I love to eat.

Oh, and I scored pretty darn well for a so called "English" module. Because I didn't want to get slapped by my friends I kept the score a secret, if you're reading this, then my first paper was 79, and the 2nd was 94. Yes seriously, 94. IDKHTF I did that.

Oh, and I met with friends I haven't seen for a long time yesterday, played badminton and chilled at Long John Silver, HI-5ed the guy at the cashier and got an $8 coupon in total for LJS.

All of that, including a good sleep, made me feel really great when I woke up this morning. It doesn't feel as good as the days when I wake up and feel glad to be alive, but I'll take any little victories I can anytime.

"The moral of the story is, when you feel like shit, chances are you won't feel good miraculously. Just count the little blessings in your life and be glad you have them."

Android 4.0.1

Probably not the Ice Cream Sandwich you were hoping to see (:

But yeah. I've finally gotten my hands on a build of ICS. Or for those who don't know what it is, it's the next major version of Android (4.0.1).

Yes yes, I'm sorry for posting pictures of my awesome phone again. But, well, I HAD to write about this because I AM the LordofGeek after all. So for those still stuck on those old outdated firmwares, here is me laughing at you.

HAHAHAHAHAHA.

Well, all jokes aside, here's my thoughts on ICS. It's still in Beta at the moment but most of the things are working already so it's rather snappy. I mean like, faster than optimized Gingerbread (2.3.3 ~ 2.3.7) snappy.

I probably want to develop some app on it, but well, maybe in the holidays when I have the time and energy to do it.

Oh well, I felt like I had to bitch about my schedule.

Today, lab test in the morning, followed by presentation, followed by another lab test.
Tomorrow, lab test in the morning.
Day after, lab test in the morning, followed by another lab test, followed by another quiz, followed by another

Next week, exams. OHHHHH MOTHER OF GOD. Well, so far I haven't screwed up the tests yet. I think? So yeah, KEEP IT UP MAN.

Farewell my minions!

p.s. that's why I reject going out.

" OHHHHHH THE GLORY~ "
(and the unsightly fingerprints)

HELL YEAH! My phone have finally came back to daddy :D Okay, it was pretty fast, it took them 3 days to repair the USB port, which, well, frankly isn't that hard but still, I commend them for their effort in repairing their Lord's tools.

The only annoying part is that, the S charges from the top, while the S2 charges from the bottom. Not that it's that bad or what but, you know, I could see how this could prove to be a logistic problem for me when I keep alternating between them.

So.. Well, you could tell that this was a rushed post. 2 labtests tomorrow. Time for some last minute cramming. Then, if I have the time, play with my phones.

Oh you noticed that extra S? Well, Galaxy S. Galaxy S2. You get the drift.
OH I'M LOVING IT! PHONES BABAE, PHONE(S)!

Farewell my minions!

Samsung Galaxy SII

The awesome galaxy S2.

Finally got my hands on it after so many months. Before I get into the details, if you're thinking the image in the middle of the screen is some ridiculously artistic effect, let me spoil it for you. It's my fingers, holding the camera. Now, what is that white stuff on top of the camera/lens? That's the flash, now, why does the flash look like that? Because I diffused it using toilet paper.

MIND = BLOWN

Now moving on to the phone.

Original Galaxy S on the left, S2 on the right
I chose it over the Lumia 800 mainly because

1. It's available right now.
2. Android, my info is all synced up
3. It is more future proof (in terms of specs)
4. It has a larger display
5. Ice Cream Sandwich is out

I would say that number 2 is my main reason. I realized that it's really troublesome to migrate everything over. It's not too hard, but it's going to require quite a bit of effort to get everything synced up again. I also did a table last night on my awesome whiteboard listing down all the pros and cons, and after going through several times, yes. The S2 is my choice after all.

The interesting thing is this.

No unboxing video, fortunately.

The original Galaxy S box, is larger than the S2 even though the screen size is smaller. I must say, they have gotten pretty darn efficient at packing phones up, so much so that it's not very easy to open it.

I feel like my life is complete again. Though I might have lingering thoughts about the exquisite Lumia, I think I'm better off sticking with this great choice. Oh, it costs $368 with a 2year contract, yes, it's quite expensive, but I wouldn't mind spending a little extra on a device I'm spending 2 years with.

You know, school is.. tiring
Saturday, October 29, 2011

To be honest, there are a lot of funny things that happened over the week.

But the thing is, I can't remember shit. I'm just too damn tired everyday after school. Be it early or late release, I just want to plop onto my bed and just, forget about everything (though  I can't do that cause I'll be screwed)

Seriously though, I'm pretty lifeless this week. I know I went out, did I? Okay, I did go out yesterday, that's all I can remember. I know I played pool. I know I finally bought my jeans. Uh...

Okay seriously, I think I'm having a really lifeless period right now. I don't even have the mood to watch anime anymore. The good part is that my math seems to be on track for the first time. Seems like, I will be able to keep this attitude up. No, not the lifeless one, the studying part. Also, it's like 1 week to A's. So my friends are all pretty busy and all.

Something that I do remember is that, I've gotten my screen protector. (thx fat)

I only got the front side. Because, honestly I don't give a damn about the back. I've got 2 back covers plus I sometimes use the silicon casing. So well.

It's great so far, I applied it without too much trouble. THOUGH, the interesting thing about this protector that it requires you to apply some sort of solution before putting it on. It will make you device wet in the process but I think there's nothing to worry about as it evaporates pretty quickly. As long as you don't turn on your device before it dries you'll be fine.

It cost $20 including shipping. Got it from eBay. Uh, it is rather fingerprint resilient. It's not anti-fingerprint, but at least it does a pretty darn good job at keeping my fingerprints off the screen. So I think if you're looking for a clear screen protector that does that, this is a pretty good one.

Note: It's not like TOTALLY smooth. A picture does a better job at telling the story.

If you look at the part with light you could see that it is kind of "wrinkled". Because this protector has a slight rubbery feel to it. And don't worry it doesn't make sliding your finger across the screen hard. Also, this helps a little under direct sunlight.

And as you can see it's not really visible once you turn on the display.

If you think my phone is beautiful, all I can say is

I KNOW RIGHT?!!

Okay, it's been a long time since I wrote such a nonsensical post. Better got some writing juices flowing in me soon.
