Welcome to LordofGeeks.com
Wednesday, December 21, 2011

Hello! I've finally bought a domain after so many years of blogging.

It's officially LordofGeeks.com

Of course, since I'm still using blogger to host it, you could always visit lordofgeek.blogspot.com. Which will simply redirect you to the .com website.

Now why the extra S you ask? Because lordofgeek was taken! Though it's not used, it's kind of in a suspended state so I can't really contend for it, it'll be a little more expensive if I tried to. Either way, this marks a rather significant checkpoint in my writing life.

I"ve been thinking about it for years but finally the price seemed cheap enough for me to just go ahead and do it. In case you're wondering, it costs 10USD / year. Of course, since I'm using Google (Blogger) to host the website itself, so I do not have to pay for the web server fees (:

Of course, you can expect a huge wave of updates in the following weeks (or months since school is starting soon). I am really excited about this, it's like

IT'S SO FLUFFY!!!

Kind of excitement.

Well, there's a good reason behind why I'm so excited. Because getting a domain through Google allows you access to Google Apps. What's so interesting about that? Well.

For example, I can now create emails under @lordofgeeks.com
(though you should probably be able to do that with other services, the great thing about this is that it's actually under Gmail!)

And also, I'm going to start putting up ads. Hopefully, it'll cover the cost of the domain in the next year. I'm not really expecting to earn much from it. Though I'll now start to promote this little website more than ever!

3 cheers for the domain name! And as usual,
Farewell my minions!

Expanding on my theory of the Big Bang
Monday, December 19, 2011

I wrote my theory of how the universe began previously.
If you haven't read it yet, it's over here.

Note that it was simply something that I wanted to share at that moment. I realized that there are some parts that I left out which I only found when I read it again, and realize that everything made sense. It shouldn't make sense, the reality is way more complex than I can ever possibly imagine.

Here's why.

As I've said in the previous post, when something is observed, it becomes a reality, which is why anything is possible if it is not observed. Hence,

Anything that can happen,
will happen, and has happened.

Which is basically my theory for what happened before the Big Bang. There was simply nothing, and since there was nothing to observe it, our universe simply "popped up" from no where. To put it simply, the moment you observe something, that something becomes reality.

Now, I also mentioned that the universe with nothing but space in it, and ours, which is filled with stars burning, can both exist at the same time.

However, since the unobserved universe is still there, it meant that it could spawn an infinite amount of universes.

Hence, the multiverse. And also parallel universes. Where everything could be the same as ours, just slightly different. Like, maybe the dodo bird isn't extinct, or Hitler took over the world. Up till now, I've been talking about universes. Which, basically, encompasses all of reality itself, but it's kind of a physical thing.

The thing about quantum physics is that every single action, every single decision we make will create it's own line of reality.

Imagine universes as bubbles, it could be of any size or shape, but since there's an infinite amount of it, there will definitely be ones that are similar to ours.
Now, imagine our actions as a branch inside the bubbles. Each action sprouts a new branch or reality itself, but it still within the bubble.

That is my version of the Unified Theory.

The thing is, math and physics generally do not like infinity. Usually, when you have infinity in your answers, it means you're wrong. Because we cannot fathom the idea of infinity. Seriously, just think about it for a second, our brains just could not understand it.

Even so, I do believe that this theory manages to explain all of the stuffs that we can't understand. Of course, I can't put it into math equations, but the logic itself seems to work.

LordofGeek: What happened before the big bang?
Wednesday, December 14, 2011

I was watching a few documentaries about Time and Space again. Yes, again. Because no matter how many times I think about it, I'm still very fascinated about how everything began. However, even though I already had all the fundamental concepts that I got from the show. Something sparked off, and a link was formed.

For all purposes of this writing, I shall assume that The Big Bang is how the universe is created. I know that there are many ways to make it happen, to list a few:

  1. The singularity explanation
  2. The membranes of different dimensions colliding
  3. The principle of uncertainty

Of course, there are many many more explanations but these are the main and the most probable ones. At least to me. All of these explanations are related to how the big bang occurred, hence the assumption of the Big Bang Theory.

I've thought about this for a long time. About what happened before the big bang. We know that time and is born from the big bang. So what lies beyond that?

Before you continue, I must stress that this is really mind twisting. Because it warps the fabric of reality. Now, proceed to get your mind blown.

We're entering a new digital age
Wednesday, November 30, 2011

After having the dreaded writer's block for weeks, I finally got out of that stupid slum. So here's my topic for today.

I think we're entering a new digital age.

Since I proclaim to be the LordofGeek, I realize I should write something about the change at hand. Let me give you a short summary of the past.

The 1st era, is probably when digital electronics first came out. It was hard to use and not common.
The 2nd era, is when digital products became common and became more user friendly.
The 3rd era, internet came to consumers, p0rn became accessible.
The 4th era, search and web services became important.

Throughout all the eras, speed has always been doubling according to the Moore's Law. In fact, every single year, pushing the boundaries of the speed has always been a priority. The internet speed & computing speed mainly.

I would say that up until 2005, we have been really focused on bringing the fastest possible to the market. The user interface has been designed in making things easier to use, beauty is part of their consideration, but it's not the main concern.

From then onwards, ushered the next 5th era.

The 5th era, mobile. mobile. mobile!

Speed and portability became the main concern. And it pushed everything forward at a ridiculous pace. Or rather, technology has moved at a ridiculous pace. Can you imagine monochrome flip phones are 2003?

All, which lead us to this moment.
The tipping point in the tech world.

Maybe we've reached that point a while ago, but I'm pretty sure it's this year. Here's my reasons for it.
  1. Everyone dares to dream about things that no one has dared to dream before.
  2. Mobile phones are catching up to computers in speed.
  3. Internet has gotten ridiculously fast.
  4. Beauty became an important aspect of UI design.

Daily Photo #27 - Ice Cream Sandwich

Android 4.0.1

Probably not the Ice Cream Sandwich you were hoping to see (:

But yeah. I've finally gotten my hands on a build of ICS. Or for those who don't know what it is, it's the next major version of Android (4.0.1).

Yes yes, I'm sorry for posting pictures of my awesome phone again. But, well, I HAD to write about this because I AM the LordofGeek after all. So for those still stuck on those old outdated firmwares, here is me laughing at you.

HAHAHAHAHAHA.

Well, all jokes aside, here's my thoughts on ICS. It's still in Beta at the moment but most of the things are working already so it's rather snappy. I mean like, faster than optimized Gingerbread (2.3.3 ~ 2.3.7) snappy.

I probably want to develop some app on it, but well, maybe in the holidays when I have the time and energy to do it.

Oh well, I felt like I had to bitch about my schedule.

Today, lab test in the morning, followed by presentation, followed by another lab test.
Tomorrow, lab test in the morning.
Day after, lab test in the morning, followed by another lab test, followed by another quiz, followed by another

Next week, exams. OHHHHH MOTHER OF GOD. Well, so far I haven't screwed up the tests yet. I think? So yeah, KEEP IT UP MAN.

Farewell my minions!

p.s. that's why I reject going out.

Fresh look, fresh start

Sheldon Cooper from the Big Bang Theory

The gif is supposed to symbolize joy. I thought I had to add that in as, well, he doesn't really do a good job at conveying my idea.

So yeah! I actually managed to finish the theme in a few hours.

I hope that it's pleasing!

I wanted to take a sample template and write most of the code myself. But, after looking through Blogger's template. 919 lines of code without expanding into the <DIV> tags, I decided, you know what, I'm just going to cheat through the entire process. This is using pretty much the same code, I just changed it visually. Man, hunting down for those little CSS styles is hard work.

The rest of the post is pretty boring as I'm just going to be talking about the design/code and stuffs.
